The story of The Angels Script
Since The Angels Script was first published in 1997, it has attracted many fans around the world. I often meet people who still have a copy of that first edition who say they draw a card for guidance every day. Others use the Script in their weekly or monthly meetings and treasure the original edition – even when I offer them a new copy of the second edition as a gift, they shake their heads and say they are happy with the copy they have worked with all this time!
I offer a course dedicated to working with The Angels Script called Accessing Angelic Realms, because accessing angelic wisdom brings insights and inspiration. Our daily lives can be confusing, demanding and tiring. We all need access to the spiritual grace that is offered by the Archangels. You grow and flourish when you open your inner channels to infinite opportunities for spiritual grace and miracles.
Let me tell you how The Angels Script came into being…
My past-life experience
In the early nineties I was living in Oxfordshire and spending some time exploring leylines with my husband, Will, and a local group. Also, with an artist friend of mine, I enjoyed visiting Elizabethan manor houses in the area. On several occasions we discussed our mutual feeling that we might have known each other in Tudor times and my friend suggested I could go to a past-life regression therapist. At that time, hunting past-lives was not a big thing on my agenda. I certainly knew I had experienced lives in other times – a few years earlier I had had a spontaneous memory of my previous life in Germany and death in World War Two. That was quite enough recall for me! But, in a light-hearted spirit, I went along with my friend’s suggestion and visited a therapist with an excellent reputation. However, Tudor England was not where I went – far from it.
I found myself in Ancient Babylon, the son of an astrologer-priest who was being trained in the secret lore of cosmological wisdom. My sister was being prepared for service in the temple. When I discovered that this service was sexual, I argued with my father about the treatment of young women. I was expelled from the school and exiled from Babylon. I had learned a great deal about astrology, but was aware there were some gaps in my esoteric knowledge. What was missing from the syllabus, from the initiatory process I was expecting to receive, concerned the use of sigils and characters as vibrational tools that support magic and healing.
When I came back to my everyday consciousness in the Oxfordshire sitting room, I explained to my therapist how I had the impression there was some kind of ‘writing’ I needed to find. She agreed that, although I had been pulled towards having a past-life session for an almost frivolous reason, the information I had received was extremely important and I needed to act upon it.
The Writing of the Angels
For several months after my past-life session, I was looking around to discover what this writing might be. As I had already been working with the Archangels of the Tree of Life, I thought it might be Hebrew, but that didn’t seem quite right as ancient Babylonians didn’t speak Hebrew. I visited the British Museum to look at cuneiform, the wedge-shaped writing found on clay tablets from the Middle East. Still no sense of connection.
I really didn’t know where else to go on my search, then, as a Christmas gift in December 1993, my husband Will gave me a book called Angels: An Endangered Species, by Malcolm Godwin (now sadly out of print). This splendidly illustrated compendium was full of intriguing stuff about angelology, some of which I hadn’t come across previously.
As I was flicking through the pages, I came across a picture of some curious characters – a whole alphabet of letters made from small circles and lines, called The Writing of the Malakhim (‘The Writing of the Angels’). Each one was named after a letter in the Hebrew alphabet, but not at all similar in shape or style:
As soon as I saw these letters and realised they had angelic origins, I knew I had found what I was looking for. I immediately felt a high-vibration buzz from these shapes and knew that, if I meditated with them, I could gain some insights and inspiration.
Channelling the messages
At that time in my life, my children were still at school. We all had to get up, have breakfast and get out in the mornings. In the evenings, the household was busy – making supper, doing housework, organising homework, and so on. The only way I could make some time for exploring the power of these intriguing characters was to commit myself to an early morning programme. So I told the ‘guys upstairs’ that I could be at my desk between 5 and 7 each morning. As this was January and the mornings were very dark, this was quite a challenge, but I offered a two-hour session every day and I expected ‘them’ to be there as well.
I kept to my promise and the Angels logged in as requested. Each morning I focussed on one or two characters, writing down the messages that arrived at high speed. In those days I owned an Amstrad computer (primitive by today’s standards) but, as I was reasonably competent using a keyboard, I was able to sit at my desk in a semi-meditative state while taking down dictation. After three weeks or so, I had collated a series of messages, one for each character in the alphabet. I was given an English name for each character, and a message that offered wisdom and advice. I had never previously thought of myself as a ‘channel’, but I was receiving inspiration from another realm and what I was writing seemed to be beautiful, reassuring and wise.
I didn’t have a printer, so when all the messages were stored on the computer my only access to them was by reading them on-screen. I drew the characters onto separate cards and experimented with pulling them from my pile, then going back to the computer to read the appropriate message. When I eventually managed to get the messages printed out, I took my homemade cards to share with people in the leyline group, as well as with astrologers I knew locally. It was generally agreed that I had been given a powerful new spiritual tool.
The Archangels
By the summer of 1994 I realised that, if I wanted to offer the messages to other people, we would need some additional information that could be accessed from the Archangels of the Tree of Life. My journeys with these twelve Archangels had begun more than ten years earlier in 1982, so I felt on well-trodden territory when I went back to each Archangel to ask for some extra wisdom to include in a small book, which would accompany a deck of cards I was planning.
Again, I set myself the task of getting up very early each morning to check in with the angelic realms and ‘download’ the inspiration. I was asking for extra content that would support the material I had already accessed when working with the mysterious ‘Writing of the Angels’ earlier in the year. Again, the messages came easily and fluently – I only had to sit with my hands ready at the keyboard and the words came through, with no effort from me. All the channelled messages in The Angels Script book are exactly as they arrived – there has been no editing at all.
From these additional sessions I harvested twelve messages for the Archangels of the Tree of Life, one for the Holy Spirit (Ruah ha Kodesh), plus two additional messages that apply to the two pairs of Archangels who reside at the top and bottom of the Tree. These are The Metatron and The Shekinah at the top, and Sandalphon and Auriel at the foot.
By this time, The Angels Script had begun to shape up as a powerful tool for accessing angelic wisdom in our daily lives. The next thing to work out was how to present the materials – it seemed like a deck of cards would be an ideal adjunct to the book of messages.
How we created the card deck
My husband Will, a professional book designer amongst other things, created a series of graphics so I could print out the angelic characters, an improvement on my original hand-drawn cards. I explained that I needed to add thirteen other cards – twelve Archangels, plus one for the Holy Spirit. Will told me that creating images for the characters was one thing – they are very simple, and the ancient materials dictate their appearance as orbs and lines. Not a problem for someone with his graphic design skills. But he said the job of envisioning the Archangels was mine – they were my visions after all. He suggested I needed to paint my own impressions, based on my long experience of inner journeys.
Although I had spent several years at art school and collected my Diploma in Art and Design in the 1960s, my specialities had been textiles and dress design, and I never felt I was strong as a painter. But I set up a drawing board and purchased some gouache paints, then trusted I would be able to put down on paper what I saw in my head.
My main problem was to do with colour. Had I been skilled with using oil or acrylic paints, I might have been able to capture the intensity of light and colour that emanates from the Archangels when we are present to their energetic qualities. I felt my attempts to paint Archangels were rather feeble, as they could not capture the brilliance I could see with my inner eye.
When Will saw my paintings, he suggested he could now help me out. As the basic images had been put down on paper, we could use them as a guide for creating versions using Photoshop, in which the colours would be enhanced. I set about finding some suitable faces and other images, such as the lion for Auriel, then we sat at the computer for a few days compiling the Archangel ‘paintings’ using modern technology. I was able to say things like, “We need a big swirl of red here”, or, “We need a display of curving lines emanating from here”, and so on. Will put his brilliant skills at the disposal of the Archangels and together we created the twelve images for the card deck.
For the Holy Spirit, I explained we needed to create a portal of light, perhaps similar to those described by people after a Near-Death Experience (NDE). The spinning vortex of light you can see on the card is a very powerful image and several students have commented that just gazing at that one card has provoked an intense reaction with a feeling of expansion in consciousness.
After creating the images for all the cards, Will designed and typeset the book, the deck and the packaging. I’d like to thank those friends who helped me get the first edition printed in 1997 and the second edition in 2004.
Using The Angels Script
At the time I started channelling the wisdom you will find in The Angels Script, I had very little knowledge concerning the history of Western angelology. All I knew about was the basic Tree of Life map and the Archangels I met there. I had been learning what I needed from inner journeys, not from books. I certainly didn’t know any Hebrew. For example, I didn’t know that there are twenty-two letters in the Hebrew alphabet, so it didn’t cross my mind to ask why there are twenty-three in The Writing of the Angels. Also, at the time I was not aware of the correct order of letters in Hebrew, so I didn’t notice that the characters in the angelic writing are in a slightly different order. (I have subsequently learnt some biblical Hebrew and discovered more about the significance of the ‘extra’ character, but you don’t need this background information in order to make full use of The Angels Script).
When you work with The Angels Script characters, you are connecting with a very ancient tradition, one that has its origins in the mists of time. We have no certainty about most of this history, but we do have the twenty-three characters and I have found they give us access to a source of profound wisdom. You do not need any knowledge of Hebrew to use them – just work with the pure vibrations of the shapes, orbs and lines of light. I call this a ‘language of light’.
You can use the cards to access wisdom and inspiration in all kinds of situation: when you need to make an important decisions; when you are dealing with challenges in your life; when you want to improve a relationship; to choose a career; or identify your overarching Soul’s Purpose.
You could take a card each morning – perhaps choose one from the twenty-three characters for general guidance, then take an Archangel to support you during the day.
Try meditating with individual character cards, or with an Archangel of your choice. You can select ‘blind’ or choose consciously.

One beautiful thing to try is to set out the Archangel cards according to the Tree of Life map – click the icon above to see where to place them. Then take yourself on an inner journey, beginning at the foot of the Tree of Life (the ‘Kingdom’), acknowledging all the Archangels on the way up. Do they have anything to say to you? Then gently bring yourself back down the Tree and say thank you when you reach Sandalphon and Auriel at the Kingdom.
The Angels Script book of channelled messages, which accompanies the card deck, contains lots of sample layouts and other suggestions for using the cards for spiritual development.
If you would like to learn more about how to use The Angels Script and want to reap the unique benefits of working with these powerful characters, I have devised a course, Accessing Angelic Realms (click here for details). As it is a Gateway Grade course, you can start at any time and no other SoulSchool course has to be completed first.
