Privacy policy

Any data you give to Theolyn Cortens is confidential and is only used by her in order to give you an effective service. Unless obliged by English Law, she will not divulge your information or sell, hire or otherwise give access to your data to any third party.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

When you subscribe for our electronic newsletters, we collect your email address for delivery purposes. In addition, we may also ask for your first name, country and other identifying information, solely for the purpose of enhancing our communications with you. For instance, if we have your first name, we can address you personally; if we know where in the world you live, we can avoid sending you, say, UK-specific information if you are resident elsewhere.

We use Mailchimp to send our broadcast mailings, and they in turn demand very high standards from us. This means all our broadcast emails to you will have a clear link at the foot, enabling you to unsubscribe immediately. If for some reason this doesn’t work for you, email us and we will unsubscribe you manually. You will be emailed when this has been done.

If you enrol on a course, you may be asked for further information, such as your full name, telephone number, Skype or Facetime address, or mailing address. Such information is collected purely for the effective delivery of the course.

Pilgrimages, retreats and face-to-face workshops

If you enrol on a pilgrimage, retreat or face-to-face workshop, you may be asked for more information, such as a contact address at home should we need to get in touch with somebody on your behalf, or other information. As always, extra information collected by us is entirely to ensure safe and proper delivery of our products and services, and your information is not used for any other purposes.

All subscribers receive our newsletter, The Tree of Life Cycles, every Solstice, Equinox and Cross-Quarter (eight times a year). Approximate delivery dates can be seen in Theolyn’s blog, Ceremonies, Calendars and Pilgrimages.

In addition, we send occasional promotional or other emails we believe may be of interest to you.

Who we share your data with

Nobody, unless we are required to under English Law. However, you should know that some of your data is held in our account with Mailchimp, which is the bulk emailing company we use to send our emails, newsletters and other communications. They take data security very seriously and provide world-class methods for ensuring subscribers are not spammed. For information about their security, visit

How long we retain your data

Your data will be retained by us as long as we continue trading, unless you ask us to delete your data permanently (see below).

What rights you have over your data

You may at any time request a copy of all data we hold about you — simply email us using the contact form on this site. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

If you have concerns about privacy

Please contact us if you need more information about your data and how we use it, or if you have any other questions. We will be happy to help.
